中國英語專業(yè)學(xué)生畢業(yè)論文錯誤分析
[Abstract]:Most of the studies in college English writing are focused on exam-oriented composition or after-school assignments, while this study focuses on the graduation thesis of English majors. In this study, error analysis was used to analyze 46 graduation papers from 5 universities (or colleges). According to the results of this study, the basic impression left by these graduation papers is that Chinese English majors do not achieve the required level of English and can not write high quality graduation papers. They are not conscious enough to grasp formal stylistic features and lack a solid foundation for writing in English. The main problems of English majors' thesis writing are as follows: (1) Chinese English majors do not have a deep understanding of the fundamental differences between English and Chinese. This makes it more difficult for them to write formally in English. (2) grammatical errors are the most common mistakes. Improper use of words and unreasonable construction of sentences are the two most prominent problems in the writing of graduation thesis. (3) errors in relation (such as the misuse of discourse deixis) are the most serious type errors in discourse, and the formal style of graduation thesis has not been paid enough attention to; Some papers seem to be translated directly from Chinese, leaving the impression of Chinglish. However, the relatively high writing quality of the thesis has the following common features: articles and preposition errors are few, and discourse and stylistic errors are less common. On the contrary, poor quality papers contain high percentage of grammatical errors and logical deviation of sentences. It is found that the root causes of the errors are the interference of mother tongue and the different modes of thinking between the two cultures, and the inappropriate foreign language teaching mode in China and the lack of cognitive strategies used by learners to help improve their autonomy in foreign language learning are also the main reasons.
