翻譯社會學視角下《長恨歌》的英譯本研究

隨著中國經(jīng)濟的飛速發(fā)展,增強中國文化軟實力的需要日漸增強。為了實現(xiàn)這個目標,越來越多的中國當代文學作品的英文版問世,然而,很多譯作在英語世界的接受度不是很高。鑒于這個現(xiàn)象,對在英語讀者中接受度相對較好的譯作進行研究能給我們提供一些啟示。美國漢學家白睿文所譯長篇小說《長恨歌》在英語讀者中頗受好評,本研究從翻譯社會學的角度進行分析,將這部譯作放在宏觀社會環(huán)境中進行研究,試圖揭示哪些社會因素促成了其成功。本研究使用在翻譯研究中采用最為普遍的社會學理論——右迪厄的社會學理論,系統(tǒng)分析《長恨歌》翻譯所處的場域、涉及到的資本及白睿文的慣習,并在此基礎上進一步探討這三者如何相互作用,共同影響白睿文的文本選擇、翻譯策略及譯本出版。研究發(fā)現(xiàn),第一,《長恨歌》是在對譯者和譯本不利的文化和翻譯場域中翻譯的;第二,資本,尤其是原作的象征資本及白睿文的文化和象征資本賦予他更大權力,利于他做出各種決策;第三,在白睿文的教育和翻譯經(jīng)歷中,他形成了自己獨特的慣習,即重視翻譯中的文學價值再現(xiàn)和忠實性與可讀性的平衡;第四,場域、資本和白睿文的慣習相互作用,對《長恨歌》的翻譯共同產(chǎn)生影響。其中,豐厚的資本和白睿文的慣習促使...
