【摘要】：《美國(guó)女兒》是溫迪·瓦瑟斯坦在上世紀(jì)創(chuàng)作的最后一部女性主義戲劇作品,揭示了劇中女主人公在男權(quán)政治思想盛行的美國(guó)如何突破重重阻力努力獲取政治權(quán)力并重塑自我身份的艱難歷程。而它的語(yǔ)言犀利、生動(dòng)、幽默,意蘊(yùn)豐富,因此語(yǔ)言學(xué)研究的好題材。本論文運(yùn)用會(huì)話含義理論研究女主人公的語(yǔ)用策略。本論文結(jié)合定性和定量的研究方法對(duì)《美國(guó)女兒》中的女主人公Lyssa與其他人物之間的對(duì)話進(jìn)行分析,呈現(xiàn)并分析了Lyssa的語(yǔ)用策略的使用情況。本論文的研究問(wèn)題如下:《美國(guó)女兒》中Lyssa是如何通過(guò)違反合作原則而傳達(dá)其話語(yǔ)的隱含意義的?其話語(yǔ)的會(huì)話含義揭示了Lyssa與其他人物怎樣的關(guān)系?Lyssa的語(yǔ)用策略的使用產(chǎn)生了什么功能?研究結(jié)果表明:1).一般情況下,Lyssa傾向于違反相關(guān)準(zhǔn)則和質(zhì)量準(zhǔn)則而制造會(huì)話含義,但對(duì)于Timber,則主要是違反方式準(zhǔn)則來(lái)制造會(huì)話含義。在違反合作原則的情況下,Lyssa使用最多的間接禮貌策略是“提供暗示”,對(duì)丈夫Walter的話語(yǔ)最多因此運(yùn)用的策略也是最豐富;此外,此外,對(duì)Walter善用“省略”,對(duì)Quincy善用“反諷”,對(duì)Judith善用“過(guò)度概化”,對(duì)Timber善用“模糊”,其余一些策略的使用沒(méi)有發(fā)現(xiàn)明顯的特點(diǎn)。2).Lyssa對(duì)不同的人物使用的各種語(yǔ)用策略反映了Lyssa與其他人物(Walter,Quincy,Alan,Judith and Timber)不同的人物關(guān)系,與Walter的關(guān)系最密切也最復(fù)雜,與Quincy很對(duì)立,與Judith是互相支撐,與Alan是理解與信任,與Timber的關(guān)系比較特殊(被采訪者與采訪者)因?yàn)樗貏e需要維護(hù)Timber的面子同時(shí)又要保護(hù)好自己的面子。3).這些語(yǔ)用策略的使用表明了女主人公Lyssa在困境中不同的訴求,升華了戲劇的主題。不僅如此,一些語(yǔ)用策略特別是“Irony”策略制造了詼諧幽默的效果。
[Abstract]:Daughter of America is Wendy Wasserstein's last feminist drama in the last century. It reveals how the heroine in the United States, where patriarchal political thought is prevalent, breaks through many obstacles in trying to gain political power and reshape her identity. Its language is sharp, vivid, humorous, and rich in meaning. This thesis uses conversational implicature theory to study the heroine's pragmatic strategies. This thesis combines qualitative and quantitative research methods to study the heroine Lyssa and other characters in American daughter. To analyze the dialogue, This paper presents and analyzes the use of Lyssa's pragmatic strategies. The research questions in this thesis are as follows: how does Lyssa convey the implied meaning of his utterance by violating the principle of cooperation? The conversational implicature of his discourse reveals the relationship between Lyssa and other characters. What are the functions of the use of Lyssa's pragmatic strategies? The results show that in general Lyssa tends to create conversational implicature in violation of relevant and quality criteria. In the case of Timber, however, it is mainly a violation of the rules of manner to create conversational implicature. The most common indirect politeness strategy used by Lyssa in the case of violation of the principle of cooperation is "providing hint," and the most frequently used strategy for Walter's words is that of the husband; in addition, In addition, The use of "ellipsis" for Walter, "irony" for Quincy, "overgeneralization" for Judith and "ambiguity" for Timber. The use of other strategies does not reveal any obvious features of the pragmatic strategies used by different characters. A different relationship between Lyssa and the other characters, Walter Quincyon and Judith and Timber. It's the closest and most complex relationship with Walter, it's opposed to Quincy, it's mutually supportive with Judith, it's understanding and trust with Alan. The relationship with Timber is quite special (interviewees and interviewees) because of her special need to preserve Timber's face and protect her face. The use of these pragmatic strategies shows the heroine Lyssa's different demands in the predicament. Moreover, some pragmatic strategies, especially "Irony", produce humorous effects.
